Sir Michael Wilshaw joins TAP as Education Advisor

Influential education leader shows support for TAP (Thank And Praise), a unique social thanking platform for the education sector.

Sir Michael Wilshaw, who is speaking at the Schools & Academies Show London 2020, has been appointed as a TAP Advisor for the education sector. Sir Michael is a well-known figure having worked in a number of senior education roles before becoming Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Skills and Children’s Services between 2012 – 2016.

In his role as Advisor, Sir Michael will help inform TAP’s education strategy as well as helping to spread the word about the benefits of TAP’s social thanking platform to school leaders around the country.

Sir Michael Wilshaw, speaking about his appointment, said: “I’m delighted to be joining TAP as Education Advisor as I believe that people who go the extra mile should always be acknowledged. Particularly those working in the education sector, as they are often undervalued by society, despite the valuable work they do.

The free-to-use TAP platform allows parents and carers to send personal messages of thanks to members of school staff at any time during the school year. TAP also provides the option for each school to be praised on their own public-facing Digital Thanking Wall, as well as providing a way to raise much-needed funds for schools.

TAP is rolling out in schools across the country following a successful launch in Berkshire and Leicestershire, and significant interest following its support for school staff during the COVID-19 crisis leading to hundreds of messages of thanks being viewed over 500,000 times on its public-facing Digital Thanking Walls for organisations all around the UK.

“We are really pleased to bring Sir Michael onboard as our latest TAP advisor. Not only does he have first-rate credentials, but he has a deep understanding of the education sector, in particular the significant challenges around the need to increase staff wellbeing and staff retention”, said Matt Findel-Hawkins, CEO of TAP.

TAP’s underlying mission is to support and improve the well-being and mental health of all those working in education, by encouraging people to show appreciation to them.

About TAP:
