As the CEO for Perry Hall Multi-Academy Trust, Amarjit Cheema is responsible for strategic development and growth. She is also responsible for managing Trust executive leaders, and is accountable to the Board of Trustees. She is committed to her role as CEO in ensuring the best possible outcomes for every pupil within the Trust, no matter what their starting point is.
Amarjit is also an Ofsted Inspector and a National Leader of Education, delivering support to other schools both within and outside of the Wolverhampton area, also internationally, including a number of schools in Dubai. This support is carried out alongside the PHMAT Training and Development team, which includes two Executive Headteachers and a team of NLE’s, SLE’s and LLE’s from across the Trust. They assist in providing additional leadership capabilities and support in areas required. Amarjit holds a proven track record of improving outcomes in every school she has supported and more recently has been awarded with an OBE for her services to Education in the Queens Birthday Honours List.
Amarjit has over 25 year of experience of working within the education sector. Before being appointed as CEO for PHMAT, she carried out the role of Headteacher at Perry Hall Primary School, and in 2013 took the school through a single academy conversion (the first Wolverhampton primary school to convert to an academy). Perry Hall Primary School then converted to a multi-academy trust in 2014, following school to school support with Berrybrook Primary School and a request from their local governing body.
PHMAT is a growing Trust, currently consisting of eight primary schools.
