Bart Shaw is Head of Policy at The Centre for Education and Youth. Bart ensures that CfEY’s research leads to tangible policy solutions that support young people to make a fulfilling transition to adulthood. Bart has spent the last 16 years working in education. He combines experience of policy making at the heart of central government with hands-on experience as a teacher and middle leader in school.
Bart has particular interests in Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND), poverty and place. Bart wrote the chapter on SEND for our book Young People on the Margins and is also lead author of our Joseph Rowntree Foundation report Special Educational Needs and their Link to Poverty. Bart has also led our work on socio-economic disadvantage with the Social Mobility Commission, The Children’s Commissioner and the Nuffield Foundation.
