Elaine has worked in education for 18 years as a mentor, teacher and leader in schools across the world. She began her teaching career in Nottingham where her passion for teaching English was cemented. Following this, she broadened her experience by undertaking a very successful international role at Dulwich College Shanghai and subsequently at the English Schools Foundation in Hong Kong where she developed an expertise in leadership & the IB curriculum. Seven years ago she returned from International teaching with a determination to distil what she had learned about shaping a culture of academic excellence into UK State Schools. More recently, as the Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning at UCL Academy, her focus has shifted towards improving student outcomes through the translation of research into practice, leadership development and facilitating adult learning. She has drawn heavily on the principles of implementation science at UCL Academy to improve the quality and consistency of teaching and learning through the development of a shared language and reflective culture.
