Katrina Gardiner

Programme Manager - Ipswich Opportunity Area, University of Suffolk

Katrina has been leading the development and implementation of the Ipswich Opportunity Area programme since 2017, a national Department for Education initiative seeking to improve social mobility in the town.   Her focus is on wellbeing, resilience and mental health in education, improving life chances for all students.

Katrina has a strong track record of supporting improvements in education from 0-19+, starting her career in the public sector in 2006 developing school estates, leading on Suffolk’s Children Centre programme, and later supporting post 16 education and employment as the lead Apprenticeships and Youth Employment for Suffolk County Council.

As a strong leader, Katrina is committed to ensuring that all children and young people are able to achieve their potential.   She builds strong collaborative relationships across education and connected sectors, facilitating system wide change.
