Michael Power is the author of ‘The Head of Year’s Handbook’ and is Lead Teacher at Educational Diversity in Blackpool.
Originally Michael qualified as a youth worker, managing youth work provision across multiple youth centres for a local authority in the North-West of England. Following the reductions in funding for youth services Michael qualified as a religious education teacher and worked in Greater Manchester as a teacher and head of year until this year. From September 2021 Michael will be taking up a new role as Lead Teacher at Educational Diversity, a pupil referral unit in Blackpool.
Michael is also completing his doctorate (EdD) at the University of Chester and has research interests in the effects of policy on disadvantaged and vulnerable students and how identity plays a role in determining your future successes.
