Mick Simpson

Mick is a Pearson Award winning teacher of science with 27 years experience, all in schools experiencing challenging circumstances. He has been a middle or senior leader for 22 years in mainstream secondary schools and SEMH special settings. Mick has recently led his school to its second successive ‘Outstanding’ judgement by Ofsted. He was recently seconded to a pupil referral unit in special measures; providing strategic and operational leadership.

Committed to spreading an ethos of compassion and support to the most vulnerable in society, Mick has worked closely with Dr Alice Jones, Director of Unit for School and Family Studies at Goldsmiths to develop an innovative sanctionless approach to modifying pupil behaviour.  Ofsted described his school as having ‘extremely high morale within an exceptional atmosphere that nurtures pupils’ learning and improves their behaviour.’

Mick is a lead facilitator for Ambition Institute and develops school leaders nationally; he has written elements of their middle leadership curriculum and regularly delivers keynotes on topics ranging from behaviour modification to leading strategic change.
