Sue is an experienced children’s services professional with significant expertise in organisational leadership, governance, early childhood development, primary education, health and social care. She currently oversees governance and strategy at drb Ignite Trust.
In 2019 Sue established the charity Ready Generations to research and develop thinking about the potential of intergenerational practice. In summer 2021, Ready Generations will open its first intergenerational nursery in a new build care village in Chester. The nursery will operate an inclusive curriculum offer for children and older people together.
Her passion is to find ways to understand and improve children’s cognition alongside their social and emotional development. She believes this is central to overall wellbeing, learning outcomes and longer-term life chances. She is keen to use this knowledge to develop services for children and older people together.
Sue was previously a Director for Early Years and Integrated Leadership at the National College for School Leadership and a senior civil servant. Earlier in her career, Sue was an assistant director of children’s services in the large English shire county of Cheshire, Sure Start director, local authority school improvement adviser and headteacher.
